sepOn 25th September, a trial was held in the case of the Kazakh dissident Mukhtar Ablyazov. A subsequent hearing was announced by the Court of Appeal in Lyon to be held on 6th October, and only then will a decision be made on the possibility of releasing the oppositionist on bail.

In December 2016 Mukhtar Ablyazov’s extradition was refused, he was released from prison and granted a political refugee status in September 2020. Earlier, a number of his relatives and associates had been given international protection in various European countries. Thus, continuing to campaign for human rights in Kazakhstan and the rights of political refugees amongst them, we consider our mission largely fulfilled.
